How do I get a banner into my world?

Open the banner, pick your Minecraft version and a target, and copy the command. Paste it into chat (or a command block) on a world where you have cheats or operator rights. For a shield, do the same on the shield page; the command gives you a shield with the pattern already on it.

Which Minecraft versions work?

Java Edition 1.8 and newer, in four command flavours: 1.8 – 1.12, 1.13 – 1.15, 1.16 – 1.20, and 1.21+. A banner works in the version it was built for and every newer version that has all of its patterns; the gallery's Supports version filter uses that rule. Bedrock Edition is not supported.

Why does a pattern say it does not exist in my version?

Patterns were added to Minecraft over time (Globe and Piglin Snout in 1.16, Flow and Guster in 1.21). Switch the version in the maker's top-right select to see which patterns that version has; layers using newer patterns are left out of the command.

What is the difference between a banner and a shield?

Nothing in the design: a shield is a banner applied to a shield in the crafting grid, so it has the same base colour and layers. They look different in-game and use a different command, which is why they have their own maker, gallery, and pages. In either maker, Convert switches to the other one with your design intact.

The loom only allows six layers. Why can I add more?

The loom stops at six, but the give command has no such limit, so banners with more layers exist in vanilla. The maker warns you past six; past sixteen the game may refuse to render it.

What is a Share Link and a Banner Code?

A Banner Code is the short text that fully describes a design. A Share Link is the maker's address with that code in it: anyone who opens it sees your design in the editor. Nothing is stored on our side until you Share to Gallery.

Can I edit or delete something I shared?

No. Shared banners and shields are permanent so that links and commands other people copied keep working. You can open your design in the maker, change it, and share it again as a new one. If something must come down, contact us.

What are Saved Banners?

Designs you keep in the maker's Saved Banners panel. They live in your browser only, are never sent to us, and do not appear on your profile or on other devices.

How do Trending and Top work?

Top orders by likes minus dislikes over all time. Trending does the same over the last seven days, so new designs can reach the front page.

Where does my avatar come from?

It is the head of the Minecraft skin for the Minecraft username in your Settings. Leave it blank for Steve. We do not host images.

How many banners can be placed in Minecraft?

There is no limit. Banners are block entities, so hundreds in one place can cost frame rate, and they stop rendering beyond the entity render distance (a good deal shorter than chunk render distance).

Is there a banner layer limit?

Six at the loom; sixteen with a give command. Banners with more than six layers cannot be copied or put on a shield in survival. See how to make a banner.

Can you put a banner on a shield in Bedrock?

Yes, since Bedrock 1.10: put a shield and a banner together in a crafting grid, the same as Java. Bedrock cannot give a patterned shield with a command, so craft it. Preview the result in the Shield Maker or pick a design from the shield banner designs.

Which version commands does MCBanners support?

Java 1.8 – 1.12 (numeric ids), 1.13 – 1.15 and 1.16 – 1.20 (NBT BlockEntityTag), and 1.21+ (item components). Bedrock has no give command for patterned banners; use the loom.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Delete Account. Your username, email, and password are removed. What you shared stays on the site under “Deleted Member”, and the comments on your own wall are deleted.
